Here at Happy kids Making our own playdough is an activity that occurs weekly. It is a fun and engaging activity for children that not only promotes their creativity and imagination but also encourages early math skills. Making playdough requires measuring ingredients, which helps children develop their measurement skills. They learn to measure quantities of flour, salt, and water, which helps them understand concepts of measurement, such as weight and volume. They also learn to follow a recipe, which is an essential math When making playdough, children need to count the number of cups of flour or spoons of salt needed for the recipe. This promotes their counting skills and helps them develop an understanding of numbers. Playdough is a versatile material that can be molded into different shapes and sizes. Making shapes out of playdough promotes children's shape recognition skills, as they learn to identify and create basic shapes such as circles, triangles, and squares. Playdough can also be used to create patterns and designs, promoting children's pattern recognition skills. They can use different colors to make patterns or create designs using tools such as cookie cutters. Making playdough involves mixing ingredients together, which promotes children's hand-eye coordination. They learn to use their hands to mix and knead the dough, which helps them develop fine motor skills. Making playdough requires children to follow a recipe and adjust the ingredients if necessary. This promotes their problem-solving skills as they learn to make adjustments to the recipe to achieve the desired consistency.
