World Book Day

Reading Fun

Reading Fun

One of the children's favorite stories is "A Squash and a Squeeze". For World book day we set up a small world tray and it was lovely to listen to the children retelling the story through this small world sensory tray.

Introducing World Book Day in a preschool can be a fun and educational experience for young children. Here are some ideas on how to introduce this special day to preschoolers:

Read Alouds: Reading aloud to preschoolers is a great way to introduce them to new books and authors. Choose books that are age-appropriate and engaging, and read them aloud to the class. You can also ask children to bring in their favorite books to share with the class.
Book-Related Crafts: Encourage children to create book-related crafts, such as bookmarks, book covers, or character puppets. These activities can help to reinforce the importance of books and encourage creativity.
Dress-Up Day: You can also have a dress-up day where children come to school dressed as their favorite book character. This can be a fun way to get children excited about books and encourage them to think about the characters they read about.
Book Exchange: Organize a book exchange where children can bring in books from home and swap them with other children in the class. This can be a great way to introduce children to new books and authors and encourage them to share their love of reading with others.
Author Visit: If possible, consider inviting an author to visit the preschool and talk to the children about their books and the writing process. This can be a memorable and inspiring experience for young children.
By introducing World Book Day in a preschool, you can help to instill a love of reading and books in young children. These activities can be fun and engaging, while also encouraging creativity and imagination.
